Starting your quest. After you have decided which quest you will be participating in, you may start by going to the Guildmasters's Office. Below are capture files of what to do.
If you do not know how to find..the BLUE TOWER, MONASTARY, MARKUS and the TEMPLE, then you need to download a set of maps. All of these places are clearly marked on the maps found on this web site.
Guildmaster's Office
This office is lavishly decorated, with everything made out of
precious polished woods and glimmering gold. A huge oaken desk
dominates the east wall, behind which sits a large,
confidant-looking man. At your entrance, he nods towards you and
grins. You can leave the room through the door to the west.
Also here: Guildmaster.
Obvious exits: open door west
ask guildmaster
The guildmaster looks you up and down, and exclaims, "Well,
well, another adventurer come to see old Cobhan! What be your
business, youngster? Are ye here on personal business, or are ye
pursuing a private matter? Perhaps ye're wondering about the
sudden arrival of strangers in Silvermere?"
ask guildmaster strangers
The guildmaster says, "Indeed, three strangers, all within the
past few weeks! One is a nice enough fellow, sent from the
western outpost on some sort of mission. He's in at the Temple
gettin' his leg healed, it seems he was thrown from his horse and
gashed it up good. Another spends all his time in the inn,
seemingly waiting for someone. An odd fellow, that one-- always
wears a cloak that nearly conceals everything. The last one is a
seedy-looking man, but what sewer he crawled out of I don't know.
He stunk to high heaven, and was always lookin' around
shifty-like, as if he was bein' followed. I didn't like
him."
The Good Quest
GO TO THE TEMPLE AND FIND THE HEALER, AND THE WOUNDED MESSENGERTemple Healer
The hall's lofty roof is supported by
graceful soaring archways, and the wall are crafted of white
marble run through with silver streaks. There is a priest waiting
here to heal the wounded. She smiles kindly at you as you enter.
A small bowl of silver nobles stands on the table she sits
behind, and you can see it is nearly full. A stone stairwell
descends into the catacombs of the temple at the rear of this
room, and you can exit into the main hall to the south.
You notice small sign here.
Also here: healer, wounded messenger.
Obvious exits: south, down
wounded messenger
This tall, weary-looking man is garbed in the livery of the
church. He rests upon a wooden table here, and you see that
although his leg has been heavily bandaged, blood still seeps
through. He appears to be in some pain, but manages to retain a
firm composure.
He appears to be unwounded.
greet wounded
The wounded messenger smiles wanly as you approach, and extends a hand in greeting.
"Well met, stranger", he says, "Though I admit, if
it were in my hands, it would be a meeting held over a mug of ale
at the inn, instead of in this sterile hospice." He turns to
the healer, smirks, and says "No offense intended, of
course."
"The lord has seen fit to delay my mission, it seems-- the reason I am resting here and not working on my fourth ale is because on the way through the Dragon's Teeth, a bandit leaped out from behind a large stone and attempted to ambush me. Fortunately for me, my mount panicked and trampled him--however, the dumb animal also threw me in the process and charged off. I obtained this nasty-looking gash when I landed on one of those blastedly sharp rocks. I was knocked unconscious, and when I awoke, I was here." He pauses to shift his leg, and continues, "I was on my way to deliver a vital message to Chancellor Annora at the mountaintop monastery. For some reason Lord Markus insisted that it be delivered as quickly as possible. But now, there is no way I can make it there, and I know no one here who I may trust to be my surrogate."
The wounded messenger says, "I've never met the woman. She's the one in charge of running the monastery up in the Blue Mountains. All I know is that she is supposed to receive this letter as quickly as I can get it to her..."
ask wounded monastery
The wounded messenger
says, "The monastery is located at the northern edge of
Darkwood forest. It's a little bit of a hike to find it, but in
my condition, it may as well be next door."
ask wound lord markus
The wounded messenger
says, "Lord Markus commands the garrison of Royal Soldiers
at the western outpost. He's a strong and courageous man, as he
has to be-- they are constantly plagued by bloodthirsty monsters,
as well as the occasional assault by the forces of the Dark One.
Since they are so isolated out there, they do not receive
reinforcements often, and so the soldiers there are forced to
become very tough, very fast to survive."
ask wound dragon's teeth
The wounded messenger
says, "The Dragon's Teeth are the range of rocky hills to
the west of here. They are abominably difficult to travel
through, and you never know when you are going to be ambushed by
some nasty creature or another."
ask wound chancellor annora
The wounded messenger
says, "I've never met the woman. She's the one in charge of
running the monastery up in the Blue Mountains. All I know is
that she is supposed to receive this letter as quickly as I can
get it to her..."
greet annora
Chancellor Annora
smiles at you as you approach, and motions for you to sit down in
one of the chairs. She looks you up and down, and says:
"Evidently you know who I am, or you would not be here. You must therefore be here on some business, though if I may be so rude, please keep it brief - we are extremely busy here of late, and I will be up late into the night completing paperwork and copying scrolls."
ask annora letter
Chancellor Annora looks you in the eye, and says "You have
talked with the envoy from the Western Outpost?"
ask annora return
Chancellor Annora
says, "You have news from Commander Markus?"
You give her the news of Commander Markus, and hand her the darkwood box.
Chancellor Annora leaps up with a smile, exclaiming, "Well done! I had hoped for you to be skilled and courageous, but it is wonderful to behold! Please excuse me a moment while I read Lord Markus' reply, it is very urgent."
She pulls out a small iron key on a neckchain, and unlocks the box, takin the its contents carefully. Reading the letter twice over, her expression becomes grim, but no fear passes over her face. She looks up and says:
"Indeed, this is not good news. However, now that we have knowledge of the Enemy's plans, we can work to counteract them, or at least deflect somef their carnage. There are no words to express my thanks, but know that you may have saved the lives of thousands of innocents! And... Lord Markus said for me to give you this ring. It is of dwarven craftmanship, and while worn it will speed the healing of your wounds. May it prove useful in your journeys., however, I have a great task ahead of me, and I must get back to work. Perhaps in the future I will have further need of your services, but for now brave adventurer... Godspeed."
You gain 40,000 exp for your
skill and bravery in completing this quest
The Homely Hearth, Common Room
Also here: barmaid, tall guardsman.
Obvious exits: north, south, east, west
The Homely Hearth, Common Room
Also here: hooded traveller.
Obvious exits: south, west
look hooded
hooded traveller
This odd-looking stranger wears riding leathers, and is shrouded
in a heavy cloak with a hood, which obscures all the facial
details, but from the powerful build and body shape it could only
be an adult man. His glittering eyes peer out at you from the
depths of his hood.
He appears to be unwounded.
greet hooded
The hooded
traveller looks you up and down slowly, his odd bright eyes
glittering like gems from beneath his hood. He speaks with a
great rumbling voice, murmuring a wry welcome, and the almost
hypnotic sound of it brings up images of deep, secret caverns,
and exotic far-away lands. There is definitely something of the
mystical about this being, and when he opens his mouth again, you
are transfixed and can do nothing but listen to what he has to
say:
"Now who may ye be, wonder I," he says, as if speaking to himself, "and with master Gaal, what be ye business. Adventure be ye goal, perhaps? Excitement and intrigue to liven up ye limited time in this plane? Be that ye intent, Bound One, and all ye hast to do is inquire about a quest, for indeed Gaal has a bit of a journey for ye, if 'tis a journey ye seek."
"Seek Jorah in the Blue Tower and mention my name."
Blue Tower, Bottom
Floor
Also here:Jorah
ask jorah gaal
Jorah looks you up
and down quizzically, a suddenly shrewd look coming over its
face.
With a small nod, it folds its four arms, and it opens its alien mouth to say: "Well, Gaal has found another to aid us in our holy cause. Obviously he has told you somewhat about our order-- its name need not be given now, but know that we seek to preserve the Balance between the Light and the Dark. Neither side must ever come into a position of dominance over the other, as there would be catastropthic consequences the likes of which you cannot even conceive."
It pauses a moment, and makes a fluid gesture with its hands. A small illusion of a floating citadel appears beside it with a pop!
"This is the skyborne demesne of the Grey Lord, our master. There is hardly anything on which he is not informed, and on those few things about which he has little or no knowledge, he sends agents to gain as much information as they can. This is where you will come in-- we need you to obtain certain information on the plans of the Good and Evil factions. The Grey Lord will tell you more. When you are prepared to see him, simply ask me to transport you there, and I will send you to the flying citadel through a portal."
ask jorah transport
Jorah waves its
hands about in an intricate pattern, and mutters a few resonant
words!
A whirling blue portal snaps into existence in front of you! The spinning vortex opens wide, and you are sucked inside!
You find yourself... elsewhere.
Floating Citadel, Platform
This wide, circular platform is made from a slightly translucent
grey crystal. Looking around you, you realize it is hovering in
midair hundreds of feet above the land, apparently with no
support! Far beneath you the city of Silvermere can be seen, and
all around it the surrounding lands. Despite the dizzying height,
the wind does not affect you on this platform, and it is
encircled with an invisible wall of energy. To the north, the
Floating Citadel awaits.
From here go north until you find 3 doors open the north one, only one will open, and go north until you find the Grey Lord.
ask grey lord
The Grey Lord's
impassive silence prompts you to believe that you have done
something wrong, or that your presence is not required.
However, after a moment, his eyes glow a bright green, and a voice resonates in the middle of your head:
Welcome, Bound One. Your presence here indicates you have interest in furthering the cause of Balance. At this time, the forces of Evil are preparing a major offensive against the Army of Light. The forces of Goodness have discovered information which will render this attack useless, and will allow the Light to prevail in this battle. I require that you obtain this information, and return it to me. You must travel to the west of Silvermere, through the Dragon's Teeth hills, to the western outpost in the extreme northwest of the mountains. There you will receive a box from Commander Markus of the Western Garrison, when you ask him about a secret code word. He will believe that you are a courier sent by the forces of Light. Return this box to me, and I will provide you with further instructions. I may not aid you in this quest, but be warned that the way there may not be as straight as it seems.
If you wish to return to Silvermere, ask me and I will teleport you back to the town square.
DON'T DO THAT YETask grey code word
The Grey Lord's
voice appears in your head once again:
The code word you must give to the commander is FESTUS. Not that
you know this secret, you must go at once.
ask grey teleport
You suddenly appear....elsewear.
Now go to Markus in the Dragon Teeth Hills.
ask markus festus
Commander Markus stands up from his desk, and exclaims:
"Excellent! You must be the messenger here to courier my package to Chancellor Annora. I hope your journey was not too difficult. At any rate, I am quite busy, as I am sure you are as well, so here is the message. The letter is in this box, and Annora has the only key."
He hands you an ornate darkwood box, closed with a heavy iron lock. You stow it away in a safe, secret place. "
Go now, he continues, "this message must reach her as quickly as possible.
NOW RETURN TO THE BLUE TOWER AND SEE THE GREY LORDask grey box
The Grey Lord stares at you impassively.
After a moment, his eyes glow a bright green, and once again, his voice can be heard in your head:
Excellent. You have done well. I will now scan the contents of the box, it will only take a moment.
The Grey Lord's eyes flash, and the box floats out from the secret place where you hid it. He holds his hands over it, and they begin to glow softly!
The darkwood box is surrounded by a glittering blue glow!
After a moment, the Grey Lord's eyes glow green again, and you hear:
It appears it is neccessary to return this container to its rightful recipient. However, not with the information contained within. I will create a duplicate of this box, with a different message, and give it to you to return to Chancellor Annora, of the mountain monastery north of the Darkwood forest. You must give her the same code word, FESTUS, as you did Markus.
He passes his hands over the box, and with a flash, a perfect duplicate appears in front of you. You take it and stow it away in a safe place.
Go now, and talk to me once more when you return.
FROM HERE GO TO THE MONASTARYask chancellor festus
Chancellor Annora looks at you with interest.
She takes the box from you, and says, "Wonderful! Thank you for the letter, it contains sorely needed information concerning the movements of the Enemy. With this, we may overcome them and eradicate Evil forever! Now, if you will excuse me, I have a great deal of work to do.
ALMOST DONE...GO BACK, YES BACK, TO THE GREY LORDask grey lord return
The Grey Lord stands as you approach, and holds up his hands.
His eyes glow bright green, and you hear:
Well done, mortal. The deliverance of this misinformation will assure that neither the forces of Light nor Darkness will gain the upper hand in the upcoming conflict. You have proven yourself worthy of being called upon for further missions, should they arise, as well as a reward.
He makes a flowing gesture, and two glittering circles appear in midair, one white, one black. They begin to spin rapidly, and start to shrink as they float towards one another. As they touch, they flash brightly, and suddenly a small, shiny ring rotates slowly in front of you. You reach out and take it.
This bauble will aid your wounds in healing, while you walk or while you rest. It is a simple trinket, and easily within my power to create perhaps in further missions, if you prove your skill and worth again, I can provide you with more powerful artifacts to aid you. You have done well. Call upon me in the future, and perhaps I will have more missions for you.
With that, the Grey Lord sits down upon his throne once more, and resumes his impassive silence.
You gain 40,000 exp for your skill and bravery in maintaining the balance!
WHEW..THATS IT, NOW ASK GREY TELEPORT...YOUR DONE.The Evil Quest
Wailing Hound Tavern
The Wailing Hound tavern is half-full with shopkeepers, dockhandlers,
and seamen of all types. Due to the recent decrease in
river-borne traffic, they are becoming restless and rowdy, and as
their supply of cash dwindles, increasingly violent. Loud, rough
laughter pervades the establishment, with the occasional yelp as
a barmaid slaps the hand of a leering patron. The bartender
stands behind his bar, keeping a wary eye on the patrons, and one
hand on a large club. The door is north.
Also here: nasty-looking man.
Obvious exits: north, west
Nasty-looking man
This odious stranger reeks heavily of alcohol, and is covered in
a grizzly growth of facial hair. He has a cheap-looking eyepatch,
and sports numerous scars. His shifty gaze continually scans the
area, and if there is one word to describe him, it is
"seedy".
He appears to be unwounded.
greet nasty
The nasty-looking man glances up at your approach, and peers at you
with his one good eye. After a moment, he spits on the ground,
gives you a nasty leer, and whispers:
"Would ye perhaps be lookin' for a bit o' nasty adventure,
me hearty? If this be the case, perhaps we can come to some sort
o' arrangement, as I fer sure have somethin' that would be
profitable to ye."
ask nasty adventure
YOU MUST BE OUTLAW OR WORSE TO START IF NOT HE SAYS
